Photography

Ever since I could pick up a camera I've been taking pictures.

I was always fascinated with "taking the event or place with me to show others".

It wasn't until later on that I discovered photography as an art form.
Until I got some formal training in high school (yes, I was in the photography club), and then at University, I did everything by instinct.

Once I did get some training I attained a much higher level of control and really began to "paint" with the camera.

It is said that "an artist is someone that sees beauty in things that other people pass by".
Much of my photography is just that.

I see something.
It moves me.
I shoot.

In spite of my lovely wife saying to me incessantly, "will you take the picture and come on!"
I do get some good stuff.

Here are some of my favorites.

People

People are the most interesting subjects.
They are in a constant state of change.
Even when they're perfectly still.

Places

Trying to photograph a place, and convey the feeling to the viewer is a "fools errand".

A picture of the Grand Canyon will NEVER compare to the feeling one would get from the real thing.

Having said that, the quest continues.

Things

I'm fascinated by stuff.
Sometimes it is an everyday item, sometimes not.
When I do see an item that fascinates me, I want to capture it.
I'm a collector.
